RedFlag Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 30, 2026
Overview
RedFlag is a food scanner and educational wellness app. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.
Information You Provide
RedFlag may let you enter searches, barcodes, product names, ingredient text, food preferences, and saved food lists. These items are used to show product results, personal filters, scan history, and app features.
Product Search and Barcode Data
When you search for a product or barcode, RedFlag may send that query or barcode to public product-data services such as Open Food Facts so the app can return product information. Public product data may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Camera and Photos
RedFlag requests camera access for barcode scanning and optional product or label photos. Photos are used to help identify products or create an unverified label report. RedFlag should not be used to submit sensitive personal photos.
Subscriptions and Purchases
RedFlag subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. RedFlag does not receive your full payment card details. Apple may provide subscription status so the app can unlock Premium or Premium+ features.
Notifications
If you allow reminders, RedFlag may schedule local daily notifications on your device. You can turn reminders off in the app settings or in iOS Settings.
Analytics and Advertising
RedFlag does not include third-party ads, third-party advertising tracking, or Firebase analytics in the launch build.
Product searches and scans are used to show results in the app. RedFlag does not send product names, barcodes, ingredient text, photos, your name, or personal identifiers to an analytics service.
Health and Medical Information
RedFlag provides educational wellness information only and is not medical advice. Do not use RedFlag as a replacement for advice from a qualified health professional.
Data Retention and Controls
Saved foods, preferences, and scan history may be stored locally on your device. You can clear local app data through in-app privacy controls or by deleting the app from your device.
Children
RedFlag is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians should supervise use by minors.
